I believe in Karma what you give is what you get returned
I believe you can't appreciate real love until you've been burned
I believe the grass is no more greener on the other side
I believe you don't know what you've got until you say goodbye

I believe you can't control or choose your sexuality
I believe that trust is more important than monogamy
I believe your most attractive features are your heart and soul
I believe that family is worth more than money or gold

I found a sample of this song's video on the 'official overseas' site for Savage Garden. And then went chasing lyrics down, to be sure I was really hearing what my ears/brain where passing on to me. And it may well be the prettiest song I've heard in a long time, even surpassing the Evanescence material that I like so well. Regardless of the value of the other tracks on the Affirmation album, it goes on my must have list.

Given that it's been quite a while since an entire post was inspired by a song, that should say something.

Wow.

You want a copy of the whole CD? <3 I've been in love with this particular CD for quite a while and I think the whole thing is worth listening to. *nods*

*checks* I've now got all the tracks, courtesy of LimeWire. And the next time I get even a little money, I'll start buying it a track at a time via iTunes. Even if this is the only track on the album that touches me, I very much want to show support... no matter how meager it may be. This is... gorgeous. Lyrically, vocally, instrumentation... this is what music is and should be. It should touch, provoke, offer reverie... when it becomes disposable, it's no better than the the old newspaper used to line a bird cage.

But then, once a musician, always a musician... even if the skills are no longer accessible. Music is quite possibly the strongest touchpoint within me.

*hugs*

Finding a song that hits a chord this deeply is rare. Discovering that the rest of the album is very nearly as good is pure bliss.

Music has power...

Mom and I just had a conversation today in the car about how much music impacts us. I admitted that, while I seldom cry, when I do burst into tears it's usually due to some piece of music that's setting the emotional tone. Like you said, once a musician, always a musician: Mom played clarinet in high school and we both sing in the church choir (when I'm not working Sundays, anyway). :) Music is a very, very big deal around here.

*giggle* Mom said, "You were sung to before you were even born. It doesn't surprise me that music is so important to you now." <3 <3

*nods* My father is, and since his mid teens has been, an active musician. It's not his primary income, but it's been one of the foundation stones for his life. Had it not been for music, I would never have finished high school; frustration with myself, the school administration, and braindead classmates had nearly destroyed me... but band seemed to fix that. Music flows in my veins (along with the chemical stew I use for blood); this kind of piece strikes hard and deep.

*smooch*

*grins* I just responded to [livejournal.com profile] jcrow above... it's all relevant. The fact that it's been on repeat play says a lot for my thoughts on this particular track.

*curtseys and blows a kiss*
