Well, it looks like I finally got LogJam to install, which means I can update my journal from my bedroom. Given the shape my left knee is in, I'm going to be spending a lot of my time for the next several days in bed, or shuttling slowly to the bathroom across the hall. I can walk, as long as I've taken the time to tightly wrap and tape the knee. This particular strand of nonsense started last Tuesday morn... and I have yet to figure out just what exactly I did to cause this. Without the tape, I make it about two steps and there's a shifting-popping-grinding sensation and then I'm face down on the floor wailing in pain.

It's a hell of a way to make friends and influence people, let me tell you.

Provided I can get OpenOffice running on this poor overworked laptop, I'll start keying in my notes from the Tuesday tabletop game I'm involved in. Hmm? No, not here in my journal, just in general. If people really want 'em, just ask and I'll try and keep you updated. I figure this week's as good a time as any to start getting it typed in; this week's meeting is cancelled due to other things going on for two of our players. I'm a bit mope-ish about that; the tabletop groups about the only in person social life I have, and losing it, even temporarily, kinda stings. Ah well. I shouldn't whine. :p

I discovered today that if the furnace is turned off at the switch for more than 6 hours, it loses its prime. That means me down on my hands and knee (remember, only one is working) with an itty bitty wrench tinkering with the bleeder nut until the aging behemoth fires over. In all honesty, bleeding the air and getting the furnace to kick isn't the hard part... getting up is the hard part. I learned the hard way six months back that the oven door handle would NOT take that kind of strain... so it means I sorta shimmy/wiggle back far enough to grab hold of the microwave cart and lever myself up on that.

I forgot that half of our canned goods were stacked on top of it. *snerk* So there I am, sprawled on the kitchen floor, being pelted by cans of tuna fish, cranberry jelly, and Campbell's soup. :p Had it happened an hour earlier, it would've triggered rage and depression. As it was, I was laughing semi-hysterically when Megan finally arrived to investigate the yelps and bangs.

Apparently, finding humor in that makes me 'terminally weird'. :p

Ah well. I'm not sure how long I'm going to be up tonight. It's been a rainy, dreary day, and I may crash out early. It's -wonderful- to be able to sleep. Woo!

Elisabeth,

i'm one of the new people on LJ... probably drawn here for several reasons - not the least of which my typing practice to assure that i can get carpal tunnel as quickly as possible. no need to reply, i do random searches for interesting people (that's what the internet is for, right?), and was taken by your easy flow of writing... i had knee surgery about 5 years ago... not a fun idea... but there is indeed humor in being a temporary 'crip'...

all the best to you...
peace

Thank you muchly for the well wish, sir. You're certainly welcome to linger, though I'll warn you that my journal entries vary widely depending on sleep, medications, and mood. Most all of it is left wide open; there are very few 'locked' posts, and they number less than the fingers on my hands. I hit a point a while back where I decided I was tired of trying to be something I wasn't, and the result is here in this journal.

And while I'm at it, welcome to LiveJournal, sir. :)

Pelted with cans of tuna...etc...

Look on the bright side, Ellie.

What bright side, you ask?

The cans were still closed weren't they?

*hugs*
