I'm blown away...
No, don't panic. I'm neither upset nor maudlin... I'm utterly astounded. A few of my friends know that I'm fond of musicals, and an even smaller subset know that I'm a closet Buffy fan. One of those friends provided me with a nearly complete set of episodes (currently missing episodes 6x12 through 6x19), and I've finally been able to sit and enjoy it. In the past, I'd always been hampered by someone else 'needing' the television, or scheduling woes, or vcr failures... but this puts them all at my fingertips.

I've managed to get to episode 9... hardly a dent, really, but other things keep coming up. The show came up in idle conversation with my much loved neighbors J & A a few nights back, and I discovered that he's also a fan of the show. We chatted a bit, and then conversation moved on. I'd figured that was that.

Today he surprised me with a gift... the soundtrack to 'Once More, With Feeling', the musical that was done midway through season six. It's been in my cd drive for hours now, and it is... nothing short of amazing. Wow.

I mean it. WOW. No fooling. Go get it. Listen to it. Really listen. Trust me.

It is indeed a funny episode.

How come you don't write no more?

I'm not sure what you're meaning, dolly. I didn't write more about the soundtrack simply because I'm finding that a fairly high percentage of my family aren't Buffy fans. Or do you mean why don't I seem to be making any progress on Stranger/Rose/Janice, and the handful of shorter tales I've been working on? That's a bit more involved, really. I -have- been working at them, but summoning enough focus to do coherent writing is difficult at the moment. I promise they're not abandoned, darling.

Rah. Sapphi gave me that soundtrack as a present a while ago... it really IS excellent. Unfortunately, it's hard to share with some people.. though until the giveaway lines (that prove it's from a 'musical' not just some song), they tend to like the music. But as soon as Buffy's name comes up.. *shrug* Ah, the biases people have.

*oooooh*

*nods* I've noticed that pattern. It's kinda sad, really... but folks do that with anything Star Trek as well. What I find rather bitterly amusing is the seething hatred that seems to bubble between the Buffy and Star Trek fan communities. You'd think that they'd bond, given that they face the same sort of blanket prejudice from the by-and-large populace; instead they spend their time in name calling. Ah well.

Hey! If you're a Buffy fan... what're you doing tomorrow, sweetie? I've got a 17" monitor to watch the episodes on, and can make popcorn? Let me know, okie?

"Once More With Feeling" is truly awesome! :~D

I resisted seeing it for the longest time (used to be a big fan of "Buffy" but stopped regularly watching it years ago), but when I did I was very taken aback! Must get the soundtrack soon.

Love,
