Apr. 26th, 2005 07:22 pmI'm 'cautiously optimistic'; so long as I'm careful about angles, and remember not to lock my damned knees when I walk, I'm now able to navigate without the cane. The left hip, where the arthritis is strongest, is twinging more than the right knee, which I consider -very- good. I'm being careful, almost paranoid, but the hopes that got dashed last week may well survive and prosper anyway. There still is some discomfort. If the leg stays in one position for more than about 20 minutes, the knee twangs my nerves when I go to make it move again. But that's considerably better than it was a week ago. Go me. :)
In other news, the last of my Rozen Maiden is rolling hot. Somehow I ended up with episodes 1 thru 6, 11 & 12, without the 7 - 10 range. Episode 10, the last one I'm missing, is running nicely. Squeee! *bouncebouncebounce*
And I quite gleefully furthered the wicked causes of Rock & Roll last night by introducing another friend to Vinnie Vincent Invasion, from the late 1980's. I wish Vinnie hadn't completely vanished; he's an excellent guitarist, and it's a shame he's apparently not performing anymore. The first album from VVI also featured the excellent vocals of Robert Fleischman, the former writer/vocalist best known for his stellar work on Journey's Infinity album. "Wheel in the Sky", "Anytime", and "Winds of March" are all his work.
At any rater, that's about all I've got for the moment.
And this is where it got educational. I wanted to include the imagemaps that went with this next quiz, so I took screenshots on the Mac and dumped them over to Psychotron. For those who're unaware, OS X dumps out the screenshots as PDF files; fortunately finding something to convert them to JPG files wasn't difficult. From there they needed chopped down, and a set resized to work as thumbnails. I'd been wanting to try out the new LJ image hosting dealio, and that's where the mayhem began. For whatever odd reason, they tell you you can post them in your LJ but never actually give you the URL to the damned pics in question. So it became a matter of opening all eight images (four each, full sized and thumbnailed) and then the right-click 'view image' option. Which is bloody annoying, and I'll be dropping a politely phrase 'WtF?' note in just a bit. Anywho, on with the quizzie... images will open in a new window, since there doesn't seem to be a way to open in a new tab...
Almost a socialist. And oddly, I'm registered as a Libertarian, though that really does need to be changed. Considering I come from a family that is very aggressively militant Republican, is it any wonder that I do my best to dodge family gatherings?

Date: 2005-04-27 06:19 am (UTC)On a totally different note, I -really- like that icon. Your work, or is it raided from someone's art gallery? 'm kinda hoping it's yours, so I can beg for one for me. ;)

Date: 2005-04-27 06:02 pm (UTC)There's a full album's worth of unreleased material from 1990-ish that's nominally called Guitars From Hell (Truth/Rocks On Fire/Nuke It/Young Blood Young Fire/Full Shredd/Shocker/Invincible/Over You/Wild Child) with Fleischman on vocals and Andre LaBelle killing the drumheads. It's complete, the tracks all laid down... and Enigma Records went belly up before it could be pressed and shipped. It's currently tied up in legal bullshit, and thus far 'Full Shredd' and 'Wild Child' are the only tracks that've seen the light of day.
There's also a single track from 1996ish wandering around out there called 'Brainsaw', associated with an album titled Vinnie Vincent: Guitarmageddon that never seems to have been completed.
I keep hoping a real album will appear; given the recent trends of reunions and such, I keep watching and hoping for a revived VVI project. Robert Fleischman (whom I much prefer over Mark Slaughter) has been doing experimental stuff for the last bit, and Vinnie's been completely off the radar so far as I know. Ah, well. Hope springs eternal. :p

Date: 2005-04-28 07:07 am (UTC)Anywho, I'll have to look for the song I mentioned on Kazaa or something as Frehley's Comet. ^^ I tried it as just Ace Frehley, but no dice. @_@ Wish me luck! ^__^
