Bleah. While I don't hurt as badly today as I did yesterday, it's still high into the 'not good' category. I'm spending a lot of time hibernating on the sofa (which is oddly more comfortable than my new mattress) and dealing with the muscle spasms there. This desk, while wonderful and marvelous and solid and durable... it's got a lot of pointy bits and sharp edges, and I don't need another new slice on my legs from connecting with them.

Color me scarce for the moment, though I will try to be around a bit this evening. No promises, darlings.

Darling Dubya has been all the rage in the news today, with people for, people against, and people ranting about others being for or against. I just can't fathom what folks expected; when a homophobic pawn of the right wing religious community gets elected, this is what happens. Please note that I'm not making -any- claims that Gore would have been a better choice... there's really no way to know. But this is what happens when a bipartisan system becomes so lopsided that both 'major' candidates are extremists; it's time that a new party rose to prominence, eventually to replace whichever of the existing parties was weakest. It's happened before.

But it still hurts to know that for a freak of genetics I'm considered an 'outcast' by the pro-tem rulers of my home. Just the kind of comfort a girl needs when she's sick, you know? Pardon me while I try to choke down this bile-tasting joy.

*bleah* Oh yea, I'm in a wonderful mood, yah. :p 's what happens when a cold stacks atop a pain flair. So I'm this odd blend of hope, joy, misery, and grumpiness... oh joy, oh rapture. :p But even feeling like I've stuck in the bottom of a waste reclamation tank doesn't kill the joy, which is a good thing, I think. Knowing that my Mistress has seen me in -far- grumpier moods and still hugged me tends to be helpful there. And I'm being careful with the cold meds, making sure nothing clashes with the prescription stuff. Hopefully the sickies won't last long.

So that's me, really. 'm mostly just idling about, waiting for my Lady to get home; She's out and about with a friend celebrating a birthday. *wry smile* Sick -and- tired though I am, my Lady's comments about sushi inspired a hunger in me... and a can of Bumblebee albacore tuna in spring water is as close as I'm getting to -that- tonight. I wish my rice cooker hadn't blown up, though it's not like there's any room for it in the kitchen. The silly -bread machine is tucked under my desk at the moment. *mutters about tiny 'galley' style kitchens* Anyway, I've got a plush kouroneko-chan staring at me from atop my monitor, and I think she'd fight me over the tuna. :p

Methinks I'm going to hit the little geek's room, then grab a smoke, and then play some more Diablo II. My mind's not focused enough for much else.

[livejournal.com profile] jhyanmar chimed me with this, as he posted it to his LJ as well...

The story's from a week ago, it seems; normally I've a much better eye for headlines than this. All I can do is plead sickness with this one. Essentially it strikes rather hard at the 'search and siezure without warrant or due process' provisions of Section 213... a set of provisions that weren't looked at closely enough in the We must do SOMETHING! panic that followed in the wake of the September terrorist strikes. Remember? That whole mess that set Dubya up to swagger about like a tin-plated despot? So many lives lost in those attacks (some of them blood relatives; my Father is alive only because he had jury duty on the other side of the state that day, otherwise he would've been in his office...), and I can't really fault -everyone- in Congress for being panicced. But I -do- fault the people that put the Patriot Act together; they knew -exactly- what they were doing, and that kind of intentional snooping malice is not to be forgiven lightly.

But it -is- good news. It means that some of our Congressmen are waking up again.

Of course, Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell are just going to blame -this- on the G/B/L/T community too, but what the heck. :p
