Speedbumps

Well, I knew full well that even being in a consistently good mood wouldn't prevent the appearance of speedbumps... and this week's been bumpy already. Drama sprang up in my own journal, and then was laid to rest in a flurry of angst. Life goes on.

The cold I thought I'd been finally managing to shake has swatted me in the head; after a few days of promising bits with intermittent voice... yeah. I'm without again today. *shakes her head* Not a hell of a lot I can do about that one, you know? I'll hit the store later and get another box of cold meds. *shrugs* It doesn't seem to have dented my mood, and doesn't really impact my online stuff... and it's not like there's anyone here to talk to except for Megan, and the divergence between us has minimized that.

In the process of me being sick, Megan picked up a bit of it. She's been congested and less than happy, but she's still been going to work and working on the sewing she's been contracted for. Today, as she was leaving work, she was quietly informed that SunTrust was ending her assignment as a ManPower temp... the reason being that there's not enough work to do to keep all of their full time employees working more than 25-30 hours a week. Since all of the SunTrust employees seem to be salaried rather than hourly, the bank's having to pay them all for 40 hour weeks when they're working less than half that at points.

Don't know if Megan'll be able to pick up a new assignment this week; when she got home she called ManPower, who confirmed that SunTrust had notified them almost two weeks ago that they'd be terminating the contract... but that she was unable to list the available contracts because their computer system was acting up. Hopefully, tomorrow will bring something a little better; Megan's more than a bit blue over this. *rubs her temples* She's matured a lot since the last time she ended up out of work, so I'm not panicking over it, but I'm aware that it will put a serious dent in our finances... which had almost gotten to the point of covering most of the monthly costs. *exhales* Something will shake loose. This is a temporary setback.

Very special hugs to the Menagerie; there're a lot of very very cute fuzzles there, and they all deserve hugs and kisses. And touches. And... er, well, they'll know what I mean.

On a completely different point... I discovered that part of my 'issues' with FireFox as a browser are attributable to it -not- being the most current version. It's still got some issues with some CSS formatting and bits of jscript, but there's not a browser out there that's perfect. My growing frustration with Safari is what prompted me to doublecheck build numbers on FireFox. I'm more than a little bit aggravated by being beachballed for five to ten seconds when I switch tabs in Safari... and the nearly 30 second beachballing for switching focus to another application and then trying to click something in a Safari window. It does some things very well, but there's something very wrong with it, and I've had it.

So, since I have no voice (and no place really to go, since the nearest of my playmates is about 600 miles away), I'm fiddling with moving bookmarks over. Or have been. *giggles softly* 'm sleepy now, so I think I'm gonna take a nap. :p Yes, in many ways I'm just an oversized little; my afternoon nap is important or I get cranky come evening. :D *giggles again, this time at the song that just popped up (yes, iTunes started itself, again)*

The Ass And The Hole
This modern age we live in
It's hard to figure out
If anybody out there talkin
Has a clue what they're talking about.
There's twisted trends and psychic friends and tabloid UFOs
The wisest man with the best laid plans might
still say I don't know.
What do you think? I say well....

[Chorus]
They must not be that different
The ass and the hole in the ground
They often are mistaken for each other I have found
Oh and life rewards the ones who try until they've got it down
The difference between the ass and the hole in the ground

Politics and OJ, everybody's heard enough
But no amount of talking can change a mind that's been made up
We got Presidential pillow talk, they know just what to say
Whatever side you're on, one thing's for certain either way

[Chorus]

[Bridge:]
In the morning paper, in the evening news
It seems so easy to tell
When the Lord looks down on the things we do
He might get angry and he might say well

They must not be that different
[Guitar Solo]
Life rewards the ones who try until they got it down
The difference between the ass the hole,
Yeah their ass and a hole
The ass and the hole in the ground.

So, yeah, that about sums it up. Somehow it's appropriate that my unbidden soundtrack is Jimmy Buffett. Yeah. It's nap time. I'll be back later to play.

Journals are what angst is for. Otherwise it starts leaking out all over the place and that's just messy.

Possibly not work safe?

*giggles*

Let's just say that I've worked some... unusual kinds of jobs, sweetie. Some of my former employers/co-workers/lackeys would consider that quite tame. :)
