Feb. 6th, 2003 09:50 amLife's not a song
Life isn't bliss
Life is just this
It's living
You'll get along
The pain that you feel
You only can heal
By living
You have to go on living
... so one of us is living ...
And in other news, there's a firefight going on over in
news over the [attempted] implementation of posting caps. While I -do- understand that some limits may be necessary, doing it in an arbitrary fashion with no warning [as was done mid-day yesterday] is uncalled for. Said limits have been turned off, but in my scan of the thread [1650+ posts in less than 24 hours] I note that some folks are incensed. I'm not surprised that limits are being considered... but I am /not/ happy with the way it was attempted. I need to sit and decide whether I'm upset enough to wander off to one of the other online journaling sites; I really do like this one... I've been here since December of 2000... but I know from experience that I don't exist well in a fascist state. *sigh* I had money earmarked to upgrade my account to 'paid' status at the end of the month, too. :(

I'm a little bummed about it.. It isn't fair to be told you can't write in your journal as often as you want to. It's a journal, you're SUPPOSED to write in it. That's just nuts. o.o
Hrmmm...
Date: 2003-02-06 07:52 am (UTC)My biggest issues are in implementing them without much warning and setting the caps so low.
I belong to two communities, plus my own journal. On an average day, I make 3-4 posts and a dozen or so comments... but my posting number is over the proposed cap. Given that I generally try to have some content in each post, it strikes me a just a /BIT/ low of a threshhold. Given my utterly hashed sleep patterns, 3 posts per 24 hours could definitely hamper me; I have to write when the lucid moments hit, or nothing gets done.
Imposing limits with little to no warning is -not- the kind of move I would have expected from LJ, an organization that touts itself as community based. I know that -something- may well need to be done, but I honestly expected a bit more tact from the procedure.
*shrug* In the end, I know I've little to no voice in the affair. I can't afford at the moment to upgrade my account to paid status, and that's going to leave me out in the cold. I'm more sad than angry, to be honest; most of my most precious family are here on LJ... the two that were conspicuously missing just joined in the last six months. If I have to move, I will, but I don't -want- to... so I'm hoping something a bit more ... well, rationally planned will be put into place.
