Okay, that's enough sarcasm... (the part about me being enlightened. Yeah, right.)

But the rest of the stuff should be here...

First of all, there's the 'Inkblot Test' over at Emode. You can find it HERE. A reference from [livejournal.com profile] wibbble sent me hunting for it.

Elisabeth, your unconscious mind is driven most by Kindness
This means you have a deep desire to be kind and fair to others. You may even be preoccupied with finding kindness in the world around you, far more than you realize on a conscious level.

It is possible that the underlying reason you seek kindness in the world around you, is that you fear cruelty, the opposite of kindness. That could drive you to unconsciously project kindness wherever possible into your world. Regardless of its origin, your steadfast adherence to being kind to others is felt by people you are close to.

You are probably more susceptible than others to being overwhelmed by emotions -- both yours and others'. It is possible that your unusually empathic nature is a result of wanting to avoid pain and discomfort, and your desire to help others avoid it as well. For this reason, things might affect you more than they affect your friends and family. To keep your emotions in check, you might want to recognize this in yourself so you can pull back during those times when you start to feel overwhelmed.

But overall, your strong orientation towards kindness gives you an optimistic nature, which translates into you seeing the best in the people around you. Because you're not one to be overly judgmental, others may seek out your company when they need a friend to talk to. People close to you likely know that you care deeply about the inner lives of others and can listen to what they have to say without imposing your views on them.

Though your unconscious mind is driven most strongly by Kindness, there is much more to who you are at your core.

Interesting. But that really will likely mean more to R or M. I look at it and go 'that's nice. gee... wow' ... but there's likely more to it than that. :p

This one was borrowed from [livejournal.com profile] kangitanka. *chuckle* I generally prefer Flute & Harp duets, nowadays, but adore this piece as well. Michael Hoppe all the way. :)

It's been said elsewhere ([livejournal.com profile] kyrlan is where I got this, they got it from [livejournal.com profile] deedala it seems)... but the answers for this quiz were a bit lacking. There seemed to be a decidedly religious bent to it; that's not bad, in and of itself, but the choices were more than a bit restrictive. I can't say I disagree with th result, but... some of the 'options' really cheesed me off on this one. Ah well. If I'm gonna complain, I should go make my own, right? :p

according to the "how high is your self esteem?" test, i have...

LOW self-esteem.

how do you measure up?

Yah, this one's been going around. I'm not surprised at the results. Go figure.

Take the test, by Emily.

That's just ... odd, really. Oh well. :p Moving right along...

You're wind! You are a very kind and sympathetic person. Whoever DOESN'T like you has a mental disorder, because you are a loving and caring gentle soul.

What element are you?

Very flattering, really, but I think it's overstating things a bit. Well, that wraps it up for the Inkblots and Quizes. Let's move into FILM! YAY!

Due to a distant family member's insistance that she buy us a DVD player (she swore it was a necessity, and got MAD at me when I suggested she keep half the money and use the other half to buy me groceries), we now have the ability to watch 'em. Various friends are turning up with favorites, letting us view them and return them. Yay! The current 'library' is Princess Mononoke, Zoolander, and Dogma.

Zoolander

This movie is... insane. It's right at the border of being utterly insipid, but somehow manages to come out as witty and clever. It's a guilty pleasure, really, but I found myself laughing along and really enjoying this film. So much for any illusions you all had of me having 'highbrow' tastes, eh? :p Still, I liked it a lot. There were 'stupid' moments, but it was entertaining enough.

Dogma

Friends have been telling me about this film since it came out; this, Clerks, MallRats, and Chasing Amy. They've all been on my list for forever, and I finally got one of them. It's very possibly the most ... well.... reverent piece of irreverence I've ever seen in my life. The observations on the state of Catholicism were biting, a bit harsh... and from my perspective, dead on accurate. Unlike Zoolander, this is a film that I'm going to watch a LOT more. The concepts involved are actually quite complex... life eternal, spent in various ways, mortality, the nebulous issues of 'right' and 'wrong', the misperceptions of organized religion, the prejudices that seem to drive wedges between people, and what happens when power is used indescriminately. And Silent Bob is a hottie. :) Okie, so I've got a bias towards big guys; this shouldn't come as any surprise. :p This one's on the list for watching again tomorrow. I really REALLY liked this movie.

Princess Mononoke

I sat and watched this twice today. I'm still itching to watch it again. Beautiful story, good animation, subplots, three dimensional characters, and mythology all blended into one gorgeous package. I'm still so thoroughly wowed by this piece that I truly don't know what to say. The fact that every human is truly that, human, and suffering from the flaws as well as the glories, really only begins to touch on the depth of this tale. It's woven in snugly with the backdrop of mythology that it becomes hard to pull any piece of it free without taking the rest. Sit, watch, absorb... and watch again and again. I think I'm in love. :)

And on that note... wow, this is a long post. Time to uncut and get the heck out of here for tonight.

An idealist here on the virgin test.

And I think the inkblot test caught a goodly part of you, Ellie, Dear.

And knowing you've got a DVD does make christmas shopping for you a bit easier for ideas; if not for certain what to get you yet.

I've yet to see anyone get a 'you're a psycho' response from that ink blot test.

Vague predictions about personality are even easier to believe when you say something nice about the person. (Not that I'm saying you're not nice or anything, just that, well, that test is a waste of a lot of time. :o) )

Hey dearie!

Thanks for sharing the nifty tests! :~)

My that inkblot test was long, wasn't it? I got Peace as my answer -- tres Libra of me.

"Dogma" is actually a very good introduction to Kevin Smith if you've never seen any of that before. It stands on its own merit beautifully, and isn't nearly as connected to the South Jersey setting of "Clerks", "Mall Rats" (my personal favourite"), "Chasing Amy" and "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back."

And yes I so *VERY* much agree on Silent Bob being a hottie! Seems we have similar taste in men. *evil grin*

Also meant to say I'm very glad you liked "Princess Mononoke"!!!

As I said before, it's one of my favourite anime films in a *LONG* time!!!

I really wanna see the director's new film, "Spirited Away"!

Love,
~~KT, Mononoke Fan~~
