Jul. 9th, 2008 06:39 pm- Dad: Discharged from the hospital this afternoon. Cranky, weak, and very very tired of hospital food.
- Mom: Pipes still holding. Rapidly tiring of everyone showing up at her home.
- Me: ... *sigh*
- Hole sank into the swamp.
- Hutch sank into the swamp.
- Mansion just now fell over, burned to the ground, and then sank into the swamp.
- Annex ... all I have left, non-WoWable, and currently lacking all of the other drives.
When I'm not ready to start flinging hardware against the wall I'll do another fresh install on Mansion and see if it'll rise like a Phoenix from the soggy, swampy ashes. I've a sneaky suspicion it's a drive that's flamed out, and if that's the case it should be fixable. A pity my working 40g is at C&K's. I should've known not to trust a f*cking Maxtor. Every other drive is a Seagate Barracuda, and they all work perfectly. I'm thinking that the 120 is going to become the new master drive, once I've the patience to work on it.
I'm going to go sulk now.
EDIT: And now the pair of SCSI320 drives in the Mac have failed, leaving me without music as well.

Date: 2008-07-10 01:01 pm (UTC)Mansion is indeed an issue with the core drive. I swear I will NEVER buy/use another Maxtor drive. I don't know how they stay in business given the ratings they've been getting.
The real issue is that all of my gear is second or third hand and prone to being somewhat flaky. Most of the hardware in Mansion is like that. The exceptions are the cursed Maxtor drive and the CPU cooler/fan. I've already determined that there's a need for a much stronger power supply, and the previoiusly griped about case issues. They both stand to be fixed here in the next bit, but only if an install on one of the Barracudas will take. The 120gb drive is empty, so instead of being additional space it'll be the primary drive. That'll knock it down to 2 PATA, 2 SATA, and 1 optical.
Sorry. I'm babbling. I'll hush now.
