One whole track of the double roller cam chain blew to shrapnel under heavy accelleration onto the highway. The engine will still miraculously crank, but I can hear the chunks ricocheting back and forth. Added to the bashed up left front corner (~$500 est repair), the siezing transmission (~$1400 est repair), cracked exhaust manifold (~$1100 est repair), bald tires (~$95 each, and those are the CHEAP ones), driver's seat with the shattered frame (~$75 est repair), bent rear frame extension (none of the body/frame shops I spoke to could do a damned thing for it except cut the ass off and weld another one on, ~$1400 est repair), cracked rear center window (~$210 est repair), and leaking radiator (~$320 est repair), it puts the car in the 'too G0dd@mmed fscked up to fix' category.
By comparison, titling and tagging my grandmother's 1990 Sundance cost $120, after the needed $425 worth of repairs.
Sorry to ramble. No sleep, and I've been on the road for the last six hours getting all this sh!t taken care of... with another 2 hour round trip left to go before I can shower, change, and meet puppy for dinner. Add to that, Megan's adamant insistence that she can't just pull on a pair of fscking sweat pants and go with me to retrieve the car I've busted my @ss to get for her and make legal, and I'm one SERIOUSLY pissed the fsck off cabbit.
