A bunch of new things today, and a pleased (albeit tired) cabbit.
I drove for the first time today since I originally fell and blew up the right knee. No twinges or weakness apparent in the leg, and I deliberately did the drive without the use of the cruise control to make sure it could take sustained use. God help you all, but I'm mobile again.
The physical therapist (Jared) watched as I did the initial warm-up exercises, and then asked if I could hold my full weight on the right knee without discomfort. Rather than answer verbally, I simply tucked my left leg up behind me and stared at him until he laughed and waved me out of the room. Leaving the cane behind, we took a stroll around on the lawn so he could see how I handled uneven terrain. Then a trip up the stairwell, down a rather long hallway... and onto a leg press machine. While it's a far cry from my once 800+lb capabilities, the right leg alone can handle 150lbs with only minor twinges. I did that three times, and then was told to use both legs... but that the strength was very promising. The cane still goes with me everywhere; I'm a bit paranoid about it now, and am more comfortable having it and not needing it than needing it and not having it.
Tons of well wishes; my curiousity about who really reads my journal was answered, and the answer was more than I expected. Very nice, that was. The day's been quiet, otherwise. Phone calls from both Mom and Dad, an argument with Megan, being fussed at by Vickie... all normal things. :p I kinda miss my normal 'Beer of Survival'... it's been a tradition for ages, but I'm an hour and a half away from my normal partner, it's a work night, so on and so forth... and I have a dislike for drinking alone. *sigh* I guess I'll live. It's a bit late to do something about now, and I don't dare drive -to- someone... with the fentanyl in my system, I'm a flyweight.
At any rate, that's really all I have for the moment. Most of you have better things to do than listen to me babble, though it's awfully nice to know folks are paying attention.
Cheers.
