Otakon Survival Summary

Otakon was amazing. While Nightambre's art sales took a hit (VERY bad placement in the alley, we spent much of the time in conversation with the back wall), the rest of the con was a scream. The room this time around consisted of Nightambre, Megi, Megan, Leah, Lindsey and myself... and was as drama free as I've ever seen shared quarters. It should be noted that neither of the Megs were my ex, and that the Leah wasn't my sister. Talk about confusing a poor cabbit. :p But the group chemistry was awesome, which led to some sleepless nights due to the chatter and laughter.
Anyway... Making new friends rocked. Meeting friends from Gaia rocked. The dress is amazingly comfortable except for issues in using the potty, where it becomes a MAJOR issue.
Since the hotel was a bit over six blocks from the convention center we opted to make use of taxi cabs... it averaged to about $10 each day and saved at LEAST that much in fuel, garage fees and aggravation. Of course, getting someone my size into a cab isn't easy, and the dress nearly doubled the space I needed. Solutions were found and we bravely ventured forth.
I -will- own a camera by next year. Dammit.
The dress survived being washed, mostly. Some discoloration on some of the lace trim, but it's not bad. It definitely needs a LOT of cool iron touchup, but I expected that. The sleeves proved problematic, but that will be remedied with the addition of two more buttons on each. The headpiece that the Kitteh made for me was beautiful.
Nightambre's extended an invitation to do (I -think-) AnimeUSA later this year... if I can scrape up the money I'm going to do it. I'm tired of sitting at home.
