I've been put back into an immobilizer for evenings and while I sleep, as of yesterday afternoon.
I spent most of last night stoned out of my gourd on pain meds. I've not got much left.

My moving catastrophe a week and a half ago did more damage than was immediately evident. When the desk fell on me, the leg spasmed and yanked the MCL to hell. It doesn't appear to be torn, since the knee is still stable as a rock... but any flex in the direction the MCL holds results in near excruciating pain. Walking is mostly fine; the morning starts as a dull ache, and it's not hitting actual 'pain' until the evenings, so at least I'm not completely grounded. I've been told to stay off it as much as I can, but to continue with the slow stretching exercises so the rest of the muscles don't stiffen. I see the surgeon on the 19th, and that'll determine the course of the physical therapy. For the moment, Dave's mostly having me do slow range of motion exercises followed by icing and electrostim.

I've tried very hard to keep a cheerful outlook, but in the wake of yesterday's PT session that's been much more difficult. I had the vicodin to cushion things last night, the first I've taken in almost two months, so that kept me upbeat (and mostly incoherent) for the evening. Without the extra pk's in my system, it's proving difficult to keep the tears away. I'm figuring I'm going to go take a nap, now, and hope that a bit of down time will brighten my mood a bit. I simply wanted folks who worry to ... well, worry a bit less. I'm still here, and still relatively intact. I'm just hurting and a bit blue at the moment.

On a much happier note: Thank you, Greg. The KVM arrived in yesterday's post; bless you. It'll likely get installed when I get up from my nap, and the next time I'm at Cry and Kelly's I'll put my assembled-but-offline linux box in the truck to finally come home. During the cleaning I also found a video card for the beast; it's been running headless when I've had it up. Thank you for your generosity: Bob can come home now.
... provided Kelly doesn't actually bean me with it for naming the box Bob. :)

Also of note: My brother-in-law finally located the power pack for the D-Link AP/Router he'd given me, which means that during the next power cycling I can bring the internal LAN up to 100mbit at long last.

I'm going to go nap, now. Hopefully I'll at least be on AIM later.
