Final verdict? I liked it.
Is it 'faithful' to the original? Heh. Which original? Books? Radio? Television? It's as different from them as they are to each other. Faithful in content? No, but still highly amusing and most of the important bits are there.
Faithful in spirit? Hell yes. Irreverent, prone to rapid changeups and never quite being what's expected. The dry, self mocking humor is there, mingled with enough visual gags to keep the (overly) impatient US market entertained. I could've had a bit fewer of the visual gags, but those're the breaks. My only dissatisfaction was the handling of Zaphod. Ah well.
Am I going to tell you more? No. Since I know that the retail outlets for Joo Janta 200 Super-Chromatic Peril Sensitive Sunglasses are currently out of stock, I'll curb my tongue to protect my fellow dirtlings.
And now... I'm going to take a nap.
