I'm trying to pick up the pieces and move forward; it's proving ... difficult. My sleep patterns are hopelessly fragged, and the night terrors have been plaguing me since Saturday night. I'm not sure how to lay the ghosts to rest, and nothing I've tried works worth a damn. So forgive me if I ramble (like I'm ever NOT rambling); my thoughts are a bit disjointed as yet. Tried to vary my routine a bit today, and will see if that helps at all. Had a movie to watch that needed to be returned tonight, so that got my attention.
...
That about sums up my thoughts on The Diary of Ellen Rimbauer. There were a half dozen small references that would've made awesome story hooks, and every one of them was tossed out and then completely ignored. The storyline that was pursued was disjointed, and there were some major inconsistencies with the established history from Rose Red.
All things considered, I really expected a better ride. There's not even a single good 'BOO!' moment. Secondary characters are weak, and there's no empathy/sympathy/antipathy with any of the 'lead' characters. I came away thinking what a shame that the only DECENT character, that of Doug Posey (Brad Greenquist), was missing for the entire last third of the piece. The only other bright point was the return of Tsidii Leloka in the role of Sukeena.. that woman's face is one of the most expressive that I've ever seen.
Disappointing at best. *shrugs* Ah well.
Well, I'm obviously just marking time here, so I'll vanish. Got a ton of laundry to do. *sigh*
