Some sort of relief

Things finally got ironed out with the doc's office today; Megan looped down after work and picked up two prescriptions for the Duragesic patch in the 25mcg/hr strength instead of the 50's I'd been on for a year and a half. Because of the lovely federal hard narcotics laws, only -1- of the scripts could be filled... but with a bit of luck they'll knock back the DT's, if not the pain. It's a bit difficult to type when you're drenched in sweat and shaking. There's about a three hour lag as the stuff builds back up in the chemical stew I use for blood.

There're enough different meds in my bloodstream that I'm not allowed to give blood, even if I could overcome my needle phobia. Fun fun fun. I'd like to apologize to anyone I've ripped up in the last 20 days or so... a check of the batch number of the last box of 50's shows them to be in the batch that got recalled. Which explains why my pain levels were creeping higher and higher last week; enough was getting in to prevent withdrawal, but not enough to deal properly with the pain. Joy. Rapture. Ecstasy.

This isn't the first time that Janssen has shafted me. About a year ago they abruptly (and with no notification) terminated the discount program for folks without insurance. I keep waiting for some other company to come up with something comparable... and for Janssen's fraggin website to be updated properly; they're only listing the recalled 75's... and all four of the pharmacies that carry the stuff have had the 50's recalled as well. The only strengths available anywhere are the 12.5's, 25's, and 100's. The 100's would quite literally knock me on my ass, so it's a step down for me.

I'm going to quit babbling now, I guess.

Okay, I don't know how long I'll be online tonight... we're getting hit with one hell of a storm, and it's only a matter of time before some non-drivin-SOB hits a power pole and flings the neighborhood into darkness. I've already had to close most of the windows here. Power's not flickered yet, but ... this is Maryland, where a single snowflake can cause multi-car pileups.

Idiots. *ducks* Damnation, that was a big one. Like someone just strobed the entire neighborhood. Was blind for a sec... I'd been looking out the window. o.o

Anyway, I'm hoping things stay stable. There're folks that might need an ear...
