Jul. 26th, 2002 07:39 pmMy comp's back to rebooting without warning. The vid card -was- part of the problem, and I've *sniffle* pulled the the Hercules Prophet II MX out of the machine and put the Diamond Viper 770 Ultra back in... with the noise of all the case fans, the groaning of the Viper's fan isn't even audible anymore, but I'm not fond of stepping back down to a TNT2 card instead of the GeForce 2.
Particularly since it didn't completely fix the problem.
The reboots happen with both the Athlon 650 and the Athlon 950 Thunderbird, so I'm suspecting it's not a CPU problem. I have two other mainboards that will support the 650, but neither of them can handle the 950 (which is, of course, the preferred processor)... so I'm -really- hoping it's not a problem with the Gigabyte GA-7IXE mobo. The DVD decoder card is already yanked to simplify things, and next on the list is the (currently unused) SCSI adapter. After that, things start getting ugly. :(
As for me, I'm in about the same shape. :p My computer and I seem to share a symbiotic relationship. Maybe I'll get this posted before the next reboot, eh?
