cabbitzillaWow. Courtesy of a friend who always seems to have a surprise for me, I have a borrowed used-and-untested 40gig drive to aide my rebuilding of the Athlon... if it works, it takes great leaps and bounds towards making it a doable upgrade.
Also, from the same friend, I have sitting before me an 'old' video card from his garage... which upon running the serial number through Google, has been positively identified as a Prolink PixelView MX440-8x, a GeForce 4-based video card with 64mb of DDR RAM.
It meets the minimum specs for Final Fantasy XI... which oddly enough my ATI Radeon 7000, which ALSO has 64mb of DDR RAM, does not. *wry chuckle* One step closer. Hee. :)
Since said friend's wife has been known to poke around on LJ... sweetie, thank your taller half. He's a Godsend. :) Also in the stuff he passed on to me is a CNR modem for my Da's machine. Still more joy to spread around. :)
I spent a fun evening over with my friends; we had pizza that was scrumptious, geeked in several areas, and giggled at T3. There's just something amusing about hearing Arnold Swartzenegger say 'Talk to the hand." :p
With that, I'm going to wander on. Kinda dreading tomorrow... doc appointment, two appointment at the clinic, and then laundry. 'm gonna be a tired bunny...
