The premise is make a list of 5 to 10 [or in the case of the indecisive KT3, 15 :)] CDs that most people you know wouldn't have heard of but which they should definitely hear.

This should be entertaining. :) Here are mine... note that some of these -are- a bit obscure, but they're -ALL- worth at least a listen:
01Children of the Sun ... RevisitedBilly Thorpe
02Outside Looking InBoDeans
03Everybody Loves a NutJohnny Cash
04Hall of the Mountain KingSavatage
05Slightly SkewedMolly & the Tinker
06Allied ForcesTriumph
07High TeaThe New Saint George
08Surfing to MeccaTempest
09FirestormLeslie Fish
10Seasons of the HeartJohn Denver

Narrowing that down to ten was difficult. There're releases that're far more recent than these (the most recent of which is [I think] the 1992 Molly & the Tinker release), but few that I find more potent. I've avoided repeating an artist (as I could do with Savatage, Leslie Fish, and Johnny Cash) in favor of a more versatile list. I'm curious to see if -anyone- on my friends list has more than two of these. :p Unfortunately, there're two listings (#05 and #07) that /I/ no longer own copies of.

At any rate... have fun!

You like Leslie Fish! Another reason to cultivate your acquaintance, I see.

Wow. Even with my background I don't have a M&T CD. Interesting, because you've now placed me in time with you. That CD is 1 year before I entered faire, I believe. I was 93 or 94.

THis is a difficult time for me to remember, because I don't have an institution attatched to it (St. Raymond's, Loyola, Kansas, Etc...) I do remember using faire as an excuse to get an advanced directing class in college. That had to be the second year I knew Jesslin...

That decade really flew by. I think I was insane back then, but I'm not sure...

Hmm...

...I've been meaning to check out Tempest for ages (you'd think as rabid a Celtic Rock fan as I would have bought some of their stuff long ago), especially since I saw them live at the North Texas Irish Fest a few years ago.

Thanks for the recommendation!
