Nov. 3rd, 2008 08:20 pmI cut this just so folks who're totally overrun by political commentary can be spared.
I'll be voting tomorrow, and it'll be for Barack Obama.
I have reasons to vote -for- him:
- His proposed tax revisions make sense to me.
- He seems honest, and to honestly believe he can -fix- things. We've tried the neo-con route and watched it crash and burn. Time to try another method.
- His speeches stir sensations and patriotic spirit I've long thought dead and buried by the weight of Reagan and Bush(s). A nice plus. IF he is what he says he is, maybe I'll be able to be proud of my country again.
- He appeals to me on levels I find difficult to state; it seems to be on an instinctive level. I've learned to trust those instincts, and usually they do right by me.
- His proposed tax revisions offer negligable results to the people who need them the most.
- There's been entirely TOO much talk of taxing pensions and Medicare benefits, and rumors of taxing SSDI benefits. ANY of them sink me almost immediately.
- He's too damned old. Given how much strain the office puts on whoever's in the seat, I honestly don't believe he could survive even one term as president.
- Caribou Barbie f'ing SCARES me. Given the main point here, I've got to do whatever it takes to make certain that my vote isn't wasted.
- This quote: "The fundamentals of the economy are strong." This assertion, made by McCain before the big bank bailout, demonstrates that he's woefully out of touch with reality.
So there you go, Cabbit politics in a nutshell. Short and simple, with an emphasis on the short. Comment if you want, flames will likely be ignored; I'm too damned tired to argue at this point. I spent my weekend putting a floor into my sister's kitchen and I'm beat. G'nite.
