Ugh.

Well, first there's this quizlet I swiped from [livejournal.com profile] nightambre:

What Kind of Narcissist Are You?

brought to you by Quizilla
Ahh, the social narcissist! A friendly sort, your narcissism revolves around unusual clothing, French, and roses! People think you're weird, but you're too happy to notice.

Um... wow... you know, this is a rather strange result.... but perhaps it's appropriate...
......
Dear sweet God I hurt today. It feels like the entire cast of 'The Ten Commandments' has beed doing the stomp and grind on my chest. I'm hoping I just slept 'wrong' and that some of the pain will pass. Please. Megan's dealing with a killer headache, apparently. We're both trying desperately to ramp ourselves up for the Hackmaster game today; neither of us is willing to miss a session, but we're obviously not firing on all cylinders here. We'll make it, but we're running late... and being late drives me buggy.

Yesterday's switch off to 3rd ed. D&D was entertaining... though perhaps I should tease the dwarf in the group a bit less. It may well be my own perceptions that are skewed (it wouldn't be the first time by far), but I find her erratic and unfathomable most of the time. She gets so into 'must kill monsters for experience' mode that she had NO appreciation of an interesting story... and thus far, my IC attempts to gain information have been totally frustrated as a result of her actions... and conversational honesty on my part. *sigh* I just don't see this character being terribly good at lying; she's a very direct personality, especially for an elf, much less a Sun Elf... her focus is 'glorious battle', honor, and Tempus.

It's been a long time since I've played a battle cleric... my last one apparently annoyed the hell out of the last gaming group by surviving. Three generations of 'the party' came and went, and Devirla survived. Of of those 'death of the party' instances was only avoided by making a successful 'God call'. Three consecutive '00' results on percentile dice, followed by a 12 on the d12 reaction check... poof, I was back in town (the dice then turned on my, and I was very nearly killed by back to back critical fumbles in a combat with a vorpal toad). The second was sheer luck: we'd split up to try and locate a missing party member. 'I'll check in here' I said, and stepped into what we'd though was simply a -very- large closet. When the door closed, the room moved (yeah, an elevator) and carried me off to the other end of the complex alone. Meanwhile, another party member decided to open a door we'd not checked yet; the gas trap killed everyone else (and somehow this was my fault). The third was much simpler, really... a hidden trapdoor in the floor got us all, tumbled the entire party down this chute... that let out aimed at an angle at a floor covered in steel, ichor covered spikes. . The GM took the initial party order and randomized the order we'd come out in... I ended up being second to last. Because of the angles involved, my plate armor allowed me to 'skip' once, slamming me face first into the wall just beyond the sea of spikes. Not so lucky was our leather armor clad thief, who ended up last out. The patch of spikes that simply ripped part of my armor away did a similar job to his spine. I departed rapidly via Scroll of Recall when ten lizard men came through the door to investigate the noise.

For this, I got the nickname of 'PartySlayer' in local IC gossip.... and was asked to leave the group. I did as requested, but have never understood why. I would have retired the character if Devirla was a problem... and I thought they liked me. Ah well, 's been a good many years. Maybe I ate too much pizza. :p

Well, I'm rambling on about nothing, here... Megan's almost done her shower, and we can head over to gaming. (I'm sorry we're late, guys... we're trying, honest!). Time to wrap up and get a move on.

*hugs and cuddles*

An Elven war cleric?

Yowza!

And you could always claim Devirla's good fortunes as 'divine favor' :P

My few times playing D&D back in college....let's just say that it didn't seem to matter what type of character I'd make, there always seemed to be a big target on his or her back or front. Dice would usually favor me in creating the character then completely go cold in the game. Failed saving rolls, high damage scored against me... you name it.

Oh, and I took the quiz you had...Somehow, i'm not surprised....

Cool to hear about your D&D adventures

I *LOVE* battle Clerics -- very powerful, very driven and very full of great roleplaying opportunities for those like us who choose to take them.

I must confess it's odd as heck playing a Paladin right now, though -- this is the first time I've played a warrior class *EVER* (in some 13 years of playing D&D on and off), and I'm not used to charging headlong into battle...at least not wihtout a spell at the ready. ;~)

BTW, hope you feel better soon!!!

Love,
