Because that requires -also- paying for cable, love. I've got to have a phone line already so work can reach me, so it's not an addon for the DSL price.

There's also the fact that cable and cable modem service out here are outrageously expensive... I can pay for my phone AND the long distance AND the DSL, and together they don't even pay for basic cable.

Really? When I was in Seattle you could get JUST cable interent serivce. No TV or anything elss.

Do they SERIOUSLY MAKE you buy a TV package?

Oh they WANTED me to buy cable TV but I refused.
