Dec. 16th, 2004 08:05 pm*rubs her temples*
Today should have been triumphant. It really should have been considering all the stuff I got done.
But folks who read here regularly know that I was dreading the third hit...
Around 5:30 this afternoon, Megan was forced to swerve out of the way of an idiot who crossed the centerline. She managed, thankfully, to dodge the asshole completely... but in the process slammed a curb and blew out one of the front tires on the Saturn... with snow predicted for Sunday night. Anyone got $70 for a tire? *sigh* At least she and the car are intact, though talking her through the changing of a tire (only her second -ever-) over her cell phone shredded what few nerves I had left.
I managed to gauge my 'functional' time fairly close; the first wave of fuzzed vision hit when I was about three blocks away from the apartment complex. I pulled over until it passed, and then cruised up and parked the Explorer. At least I didn't strand myself in Glen Burnie... the furnace is out of oil, and the water's been shut off (thankfully - it avoids burst pipes). I worry about my focus, particularly when it's a borrowed vehicle. Yes, Crys, your Explorer is still shiny and pretty and clean. :p
I'm tired. Very very tired. Tomorrow I've got to focus on getting the load that's already -in- the Explorer up into the apartment. What's stacked in the living room is another full load at -least-. Anyone local that wants to see the crippled and disheveled cabbit and help with the moving is MORE than encouraged to touch base with me. I've got one nice person that I think I can tap for this purpose, but it's still going to make for a long day. I'm hoping to have enough up time left to get back out to the House and get the Explorer loaded again, that way my timeframes don't get cut too short.
I need to check in on Gaia, and then I'm going to go hide in RO. *hugs*
EDIT:
Thank you, Tyler. Another one that needs to be nominated for Sainthood... as I now have the funds to go get a new tire put on the Saturn. This is the kind of thing that makes me chew on myself so hard for the bouts of feeling all alone; over and over again my friends-who-are-family pull my fat fuzzy ass out of the grinder. *hugs*

- The last of the unsorted boxes in the addition got broken down and sifted for survivors.
- All of the loose items in the living room, saved from the addition on previous strafes, are now boxed or toted, and the living room is staged for a strategic withdrawal.
- Among the survivors is my first edition printing of Frank Herbert's Dune -and- The Dune Encyclopedia, and all six volumes of Stephen R. Donaldson's Chronicles of Thomas Covenant.
- The two surviving guitars (out of the original four - both of my acoustic guitars, six and twelve string, were among the casualties) have been delivered to my father for safekeeping... and it turns out that the Vega lap steel may be worth more than a little money.
