As things stand, I will -not- be going to the house to work on the addition today. Although I logged out of everything well over four hours ago, drowsy to the point of incoherence, 'drowsy' has yet to turn into anything even CLOSE to approximating sleep. Even a doubled dose of the sleep meds has failed... leaving me irritable and unfocused. So I'll post here, in the hopes that having dumped this batch of latticework to page will allow my mind to shut down even for a little while.
Saturday proved to be a day of tumult; it began on a sour note and then ricocheted from one extreme to the other all day long. Rising from bed this morning, the bad knee decided to step out for a cup of coffee and not warn me. Somehow, Megan slept through the crash right outside her bedroom door as the panfold closet doors clanged into my head and then the floor beside me. Such was the lowest of the low points.
The best of the best was dinner with
nightambre, her son, her hubby, and hubby's parents (nice folk; his dad was groovin to a Warhammer 40k game when I arrived at the house). From there it was over to Arundel Mills Mall, to meet up with Megan and then wait in line at the restaurant. Quite a line, too; Medieval Times does a brisk business. From other friends who'd been, I'd heard nothing but complaints... but I'm not about to turn down a dinner invite with friends.
And those other friends are full of sh!t, too. The food was very tasty (awesome garlic bread, among other things), and the show was entertaining. For me, with years and years of RenFaires under my belt, the initial parts drug on a bit, but that was a momentary thing. It didn't take long to get sucked in, and find myself cheering like an idiot along with everyone else.
Oh yeah. Hey,
nightambre? KHHAAAAAAAAANNNNNN! :p
Now, where was I. Yes. The fight choreography was actually better than I'd expected; three of the six Knights have had some sort of sword training, and when two of them squared off against each other, I was oohing and ahhing over them being able to duel at near full speed with only brief lapses. And I STILL want to know which of the blades had magnesium content; it's the only metal I can think of that will produce bright green sparks on impact. All told, very nice. The price is pretty stiff, but to be honest it's fairly in keeping for dinner theater. I remember being a regular at the Harlequin. *smile* Good memories, 20 years later.
Tired. I really need sleep to hit me. In the meantime, I'm going to go find a book, or maybe install SimTower on this machine. Or just pace around in circles. Yeah, that last one sounds simple enough.
Sweet dreams to those sleep has blessed.
