Sore.
Tired.
I ended up doing most of the heavy work in dismantling the McTernan kitchen, which isn't to say noone helped. My mother in-law and Katie (sister in-law) were more than enthusiastic, and did a lot of the peripheral work. But when it came down to it, neither of them have the mass or raw strength to get things free of the walls without massive amounts of collateral damage. The amputated cabinets and piece of counter got stacked in the hallway, and around that time someone noted that it was 2am. Fell into bed and the world went black.
Got up and fetched the truck; third time's the charm, and there was no U-Haul shank job this time. Katie, Mom-IL and I got the truck loaded, with a bit of help from Megan and Uncle Bill. It took me nearly an hour to get things roped in so that there'd be no load shifting... and I obviously did it right, as nothing moved more than an inch even traveling such bumpy roads. The drive back here was... not fun. The truck's axles might as well've been bolted directly to the frame. :( At the second waypoint (the WalMart in Aberdeen, MD), I made an 'executive decision' and opted to head straight to the apartment rather than try and unload last night. Bought a padlock for the truck at WallyMart and got back on the road. The truck's parked outside; I'll drive it to my therapy appointments, and then to the house. Megan'll meet me there around 5:30PM, and we'll unload the truck. If I'm reading the rules of this rental right, as long as I get it back before close of business we're okay. Hopefully I've not misunderstood. That'd be... very very bad.
I'm stiff but relatively mobil. Hopefully the truck won't kill me today. Hopefully I've not chosen wrong on the truck.
