Jul. 3rd, 2008 08:07 pmStuff happens. Lots of stuff.
Six days were spent replacing plumbing in (and under) my mom's trailer. For those who don't know, I'm VERY claustrophobic. It's why I rarely roll the truck windows all the way up no mater how hot/cold it is. So imagine the cabbit wriggling under a 25 year old mobile home to try and work with aging PVC piping. Blowout after blowout, we ended up replacing 90% of the master bathroom piping, one section at a time. Maddening, it was. We finally reached a stable patch solution that's holding. The entire mess will be revisited come the end of August when it won't be beastly hot. Everything from the main water feed needs to be yanked out and replaced. There'll be no water in the trailer while we're working on it, so Mom'll have to relo to my sister's place for whatever weekend we do the work.
Sadly, it's prevented me from putting the finishing touches on Mansion. A pity to have a lovely P-IV system with none of the 'real' drives installed. On the plus side, the configuration I'm aiming for will allow a bit of extra space... provided it works. One of the drives is untested, so I don't want to get my hopes up. If everything hammers out, it'll look like this:
The Overflow drive is the question... without it, I've still got 80gb more space than the old Hutch configuration, on a much hotter mainboard (ECS PF21 Extreme) and processor. The main will support up to 6 SATA drives, so I'll have some expansion room, provided I upgrade the 400w PSU that's currently driving the bus. For the moment it'll do fine. The 'replace' list begins with a proper case first, and THEN a power supply... but it'll be a bit before either materialize.
Now if Otakon's AA folks would just get their heads out of their asses, I'd know if I needed to scramble to ramp up for it...
