I learned a new... rather colorful... expression today at a gas station in La Plata:
Colder'n a Texas two-step inna titanium tittytoter.

*scratches her head* Okay. It makes even LESS sense in print than it did when the trucker said it. ANYway...

So anyway, plans got rearranged today... instead of going to my mom's, I ended up hauling way down below Indian Head (roughly two hours south, still in Maryland, though) to visit some old and dear friends. The last time I'd even seen them at all was back in May of 1998... at the Little Wedding Of Horrors. Its a long story, and one I can only face when plastered. But anyway...

Last time I'd seen Mike and Becky (not counting the wedding) they had three kids, and the tallest was maybe hip high on me. *covers her eyes* There are -4- kids now. Wesley, whom I remember as a five, maybe six year old is now 14. So the visit was dotted with spurts of feeling incredibly ancient, but was otherwise quite nice. As few real friends as I have locally, reestablishing ties with two more was a real treat.

Getting out of the apartment complex... now that was the complicated part. Some of the folk know the geography hereabouts... it took me almost twenty minutes to crawl my way out to Broken Land Parkway. It was splotchy, but better... and I'd resigned myself to simply turning around and working my way back up to our building if MD 32 looked the same. *blinks* 32 showed no signs of even knowing the dusting of snow and sheets of ice even existed. I followed it out to the Fort Meade area, then stopped in a 7-Eleven to doublecheck the weather. It was going to be warm enough to thaw the ice, no new stuff was predicted... okay, the trip is green. Knowing there'd be money on the other end to replenish the truck's fuel, I headed on. *chuckle* Rolling Down to Nanjemoy. Okay, it's not 'Old Maui', but it fits the syllable scheme. Cope. :p

And I'm home safe, intact, and very very tired. It was well worth it, but it's one hell of a drive. I think I'm going to vegetate. And stuff. Yes. Vegetating is good. Mmmmmmm.... vegetables...
