Now -that- is more my style. Blunt. Tactless. Thorough. And I get Atlantis, too! :) Yay, me!

Anyway, Nuthutch is officially functional, though it's not currently online. That's tomorrow's project; getting it completely reinstalled and getting the kernel updated (with the bleeding edge 2.6 kernel, no less... nothing else wanted to support the SCSI hardware properly) and getting the beast (what, 35, maybe 40 pounds of pure geekdom) home pretty much has wiped me out. That, and it's 0143hrs, and Ellie's a tired, tired, bunny.

MANY kudos to Kelly, who once again proved worthy of the title of 'Geek's Geek'. And a thwap to the head to me, for not doublechecking the SCSI termination (it was only part of the problem, though). Kudos to Crys for her fridge of bottomless Coca Cola and lasagne (which was hella tasty!).

ANNNNNND.... [growl] a kick to the 'nads of the twits at RedHat; when the mothereffin INSTALL detects SCSI hardware, why in the hell doesn't the installed kernel SUPPORT it? Grrr. That SAME kick to the 'nads goes to the equivalent twits at Mandrake, as well. Wake up, knuckleheads: not -everyone- uses only IDE and ATA100+ hardware. [/growl]

And now, I'm going to find something to drink, take my sleepypills, and collapse. Tomorrow will involve some minor furniture shuffling and much tweaking on Nuthouse to get it going properly. Megan'll probably lose her net connectivity for a day or so, and will just have to cope. And by the time I get Nuthouse all squared away, the new hardware being sent from my Lady down south will have arrived, and I can begin tackling the full reinstall of -this- beast.Fun fun fun. :)

So folks know and don't worry: Sometime this afternoon I'll be vanishing... the hope is that said vanishing will only be for an hour or two while I rewire and get everything set up with the new machine in place. The realistic view is that something's going to go wrong and I'll work on it all through the night, finally getting things rough functional around 6am ... at which point I stagger off for 3 hours of tormented dreams. :p

But I'm feeling optimistic, so we're gonna try this -anyway-. So iffn I'm not around when I've said I will be, or just plain not around, that's why. The WinXP box's gradual decline into non-function has accellerated, and I -have- to get the new box in place or my vanishing will be for days and not hours. *shudder* Anyway.... I'm cleaning now. Then comes the 'disconnect everything and hook it all back up in better arrangement' stage.... which is followed by the 'just how the bloody fsck is this supposed to work' stage.

Reconsidering...

Managed to fall on the bad hip, trying to heft FrankenBeast (also known as Nuthouse) over the sofa into the spot I industriously worked most of the day to clear. Machine's fine, but I hurt too badly to lift the verdamnt thing. So it's gotten nudged to tomorrow. That'll give me time to get the rat's nest of electrical cords neatened up before I start running 2.91 miles of KVM cables on top of it. :p

And now, if anyone wants me, I'll be in battlenet.
