And now I'm going back to bed...

Property taxes are paid; the county is no longer looking to auction my home off come June 3, 2003.

Trip? Yes, going out to the 'great American midwest' to visit Doug and Ysabet (casual, non-subscribed readers, old and very VERY dear friends) and R (more recent, just as dear). Trip is partially subsidised by another, hence my stresses over budget constraints; it wouldn't be possible otherwise. It's looking to be a 'sprawl and relax and laugh and chat' trip. Which I'm desperately in need of right about now.

DSL is still proving problematic, but only for the second machine (Megan's). Looking like I'll have to dissect WinXP's connection sharing; it's -NOT- working properly.

Quiet. Slept a lot. Still very tired.

Found my yellow blouse, so now I'm blinding myself. :p

*thinks* Warlok's had to blacklist a certain someone I referred to Him; exactly what I was afraid of happening. *sigh* If only she'd quit trying to deliberately destroy herself. 's very frustrating. Got a heads up on it early am today; she appeared around 0900, and I shook my head and sent her back out. I know how He works, and won't cross him. Hopefully she'll learn.

I'm craving pasta alfredo. Badly. Usually it's chocolate and doritos, this time of the month... odd, but not entirely bad. The alfredo's just as fattening, though. Ah well.

*hugs*

Software tidbits for the connection blessed:
NOTE: Sadly, most of these are Windows packages. While there exists a chance that a G3 Mac will wander my way, at present all of my running machines are using I86 architecture. For my Mac friends, 'm sorry. I wish ports of more of these were available for you...

The first up is a repackaging of an old OS/2 native game, Galactic Civilizations from Stardock Systems. It was my absolute favorite game for a long while, and I'm thrilled that Stardock did such a marvelous job porting and refreshing it. A demo is available from The Adrenaline Vault, and can be gotten HERE.

Second up is a game that's actually been out for a while, but until recently I lacked a robust enough connection to pull down the demo for it. The game is Syberia, from Microids. It's a mouse-driven 3D graphical adventure game with a clockwork heart. The visuals are beautiful, and the puzzles in the demo were a lot of fun. A demo for it is available from The Adrenaline Vault, and can be gotten HERE.

Third on the plate is a simulation piece that... well, I think it's really really cool, but we're all probably on the same page: I'm a geek. It's the Space Station Manager from Mistaril. Another 3D piece, this one features all the rotations and angles and closeups that a geek could want, and looks to have varying degrees of difficulty (though it's hard to tell from just the demo). A demo for it is available from The Adrenaline Vault, and can be gotten HERE.

On the retro-gaming front there's The Ur-Quan Masters, an open source remake of the legendary Star Control 2 (the 'Star Control' name is copywrited, hence the new title for the project). THERE IS A MacOS PORT OF THIS ONE! THERE IS A Linux PORT OF THIS ONE! Wooba! :)

Also on the open source front is FreeCraft, a reverse engineered port of the WarCraft II engine. THERE IS A Linux PORT OF THIS ONE!

When it comes to -truly- classic games, no list would be complete without NetHack, currently at release 3.4.1. THERE IS A MacOS PORT OF THIS ONE! THERE IS A Linux PORT OF THIS ONE! Wooba! :)

And this in the news:
College offers transgender student dorm

Wow. Maybe there -is- some hope for the world.
