IE just fucking crashed and ate my post. I'm going to summarize.

My Mac G3, that I'd truly come to love, may well be a very pretty doorstop. I'd taken it home as an amusement... an oddity. A toy. It wasn't the fastest or most powerful, but it always /worked/. Automagically. And ... *sigh* I just don't know what happened, and my desk doesn't feel like home without it sitting here...

Mood: Crying. Upset. Fighting off 3^rd Panic attack in 3 days.

Athlon 2000+/WinXP Pro system is intact hardware-wise. OS is well and truly fucked. No networking capabilities at ALL; enabling networking leaves roughly 70 seconds before hard crash. Restarting takes 45 mins because of drive repairs.

Mood: Semi-hysterical. Raging. Hell of a combo, yes? Minimal data loss/Maximum inconvenience

NT Server system totally incompatible with the DSL hardware because the asshats at Verizon insist on using DSL modems from the fuckwads at Westell... who probably couldn't build a REAL modem if their God damned mother's lives depended on it.

Mood: Guess. Go ahead. I'll spare you the rest of the diatribe.

Given my piles and piles and piles of outdated-but-still-functional hardware, a system has been cobbled together out of the aging Compaq Presario 5240 that nightambre and her hubby gave me. DSL software refuses to fucking install, and I'm so frustrated that I don't dare try to set it up manually... the entire thing would be pitched out a window before I got it going.

Said system had been promised to a young friend... who's decided that now that she's pursuing a modeling career, she can't be bothered to 'socialize' with '[my] type'. I've got four fucking letters for you princess... FOAD. If that doesn't suit you, try ESAD. Please notice that both of them end with 'AD'; since models are NOT known for vast amounts of intellectual processing power, let me help you out here: And Die. Please oblige society at your earliest possible convenience.

Many MANY thanks to rowandoll for talking me down out of hysterics last night. Her intervention prevented me from adding several more disasters to the mix. Thanks also to nightambre; without her generosity, I'd be doing this from a P 75.
