cabbitzillaMegan was discharged from the hospital about a half an hour ago. What was originally thought to be 'simple' appendicitis turned out to be (to quote the doctor) 'very interesting'... a cyst on her right ovary. A large-ish one. As in, the size of an APPLE.
*shudder*
She was given a prescription for pain (codeine) and something for nausea, and booked for a 10:00 appt tomorrow with a GYN specialist so that said specialist could book her for surgery to -remove- said cyst. At present, she's pretty whacked on pain meds, while my step mother (Bless you, Ev!) is shuttling around to fill the 'scripts for us.
Many MANY thanks to Hobbes, who showed up 40mins after my call and stayed all afternoon; he finally excused himself when my sister showed up with another cell phone. Props also to my sister Leah, and (surprisingly) my Mom and Grandmom who made the trip up (wrestling Grandma's wheelchair in and out of the trunk of Mom's Neon is no small task). And to Evelyn, who's support and willingness to help is already legendary.
Megan's currently talking (in very stoned manner) to her own Mom, trying to put -that- set of worries to rest, and seems to be feeling very little of the pain at the moment. She's on a soft food diet at least till tomorrow, which means I'll need to run out to the store after soups and such.
As for me, sleep is a -high- priority. On one of my trips out of Megan's room, I was stopped by a doctor with Ma'am? You look terrible, why are you out of your bed? and an offer to 'show me back' to my room. o.0 I didn't realize I looked that rough. But we're home and relatively intact. And that's all I've the energy to put in.
Thank you, all of you. I printed each of the well wishes and gave them to Megan. It means a lot.
