So here I am at work...
Apr. 22nd, 2006 10:20 amFor those that care about such things, I was needed here at the BTC to cover the desk; of the six conference rooms, five of them were booked... and one of them was (for all intents and purposes) a new client that'd likely need a bit of babysitting with the A/V equipment. The schedule listed the event title as 'Intercessory Prayer Seminar'; having seen that, I was expecting roughly 100 very enthusiastic charismatic Christians. No biggie, really, as I figured I'd at least get a church service to listen to, and that'd be kinda neat given the general weirdness that's been going on this past week. I got what I was expecting.
The only problem is that it's all in Korean. o.o
Oh well. The songs are pretty, even if I don't understand the language. And it's kinda relaxing, in an odd sort of way. It'd be more fun if I understood the words, but it's still pretty. All of the folks attending are almost painfully polite and earnest. The only problem is that the entire situation leaves me having to fight off attacks of the giggles, which would NOT be a good thing. They'd think I was mocking them, when it's actually ME I'm mocking. :p
This is complicated by my very weird musical tastes. There're about 100 tracks in my music library that I've been unable to ascertain artist, title, or language of. I /like/ them; they're pretty, so I just listen and bop along and hope that someday someone'll be able to identify them for me. It's one of the CDR's that runs about with me in the truck, and it's the one that came in with me.
I now know that two of the tracks are Korean. I STILL don't know what the artist or title of the tracks are, but it caused no small bit of surprise to one of the ladies that I was listening to music in -her- language. A brief conversation showed her that I didn't speak the language in question, which seemed to disappoint her. But she knew enough English to compliment me on having excellent taste in music. Thank God it wasn't actually an obscene lyric. o.o
... oh, wow. So that's what the Lord's Prayer sounds like in Korean. Neat.
Anyway, I'm going to go work on my jigsaw puzzle a bit more. I'll be here until at least 1 PM, which'll give 1 of the five groups here a chance to wrap up so I can lock that room. The others run much later... the Prayer group apparently until 8:30 PM this evening. Wow. That's a heck of a church service...
