So I sit down this morning, at 10am, and begin to do a reinstall on the housemate's machine. Should be simple, right? Yank all but one of the existing drives out, swap in the bigger replacements, reinstall Win98 and let it roll.
Right.
Five complete installs of Win98 later, the sonovaB still refuses to boot into anything other than Safe Mode. It's having 'issues' with the Via chipset on the mainboard... the same mainboard that'd BEEN running the SAME copy of Win98 for nearly 2 years. Aieeee! Frustration hits, and I wobble outside to smoke a cigarette or three.
Okie, back in the saddle. Grab my copy of WinME, and fling in daringly into the drive. Scrap the partitions, start from scratch. ME installs flawlessly, first try, and the stupid thing just -works-. I start celebrating. Get it all tweaked out to the point where it'll truly fly. And then the phone rings.
It's the housemate.
Being a bit unreasonable, in my honest opinion.
Insisting on WinXP instead of WinME. On an already overworked, mildly overclocked P300.
Whatever. It's just not worth the argument, you know? So now it's after 7:30pm, and XP is -still- installing... sheesh. Can we say 'slow', boys and girls? Goood, I knew you could...
