As if I didn't have enough on my plate:

My ICQ account, 199183145, has been hacked. Do not open anything it sends you.

I'm trying to figure out which email I was using when I set it up, to try and get it shut down. I recommend that anyone who's got me listed for that number block the account immediately; once I get things unknotted I'll establish a new account. Again.

*stomps off in a grump*

Don't worry, windows is perfectly secure! ;)

Yeah, no kidding.

All joking aside, this is why I run an Os X messenger client.

I keep hoping that more info will surface.

Did any of your computers end up in someone else's hands? Or might you have left yourself logged into someone else's IM somewhere? I've been told that this is a highly unsophisticated worm that requires an open, connected Windows IM client to do its dirty work for it. Not to mention an obsolete hole-filled version of the VB libraries.

That's just it, love... it's been... 6 months? At least? Since I last used ICQ. The -only- machine that had the ICQ account info in any of the clients is lying (in many small pieces) behind me, dead as a stone. This has just started happening, and I've since discovered that my account's been hijacked and the password changed. :(

Eesh. You have my sympathies. But unfortunately it does not take YOU being logged in, to get snookered in this one. Thanks to thier online client and network, if someone has enough time and patience, they could sit there with a copy of the online client and just keep plinking a password checker at your account number, or anyone else's, till they get locked out or get in. And I'm not even sure bout hte locked out bit. Fun, huh?
