I am one seriously pissed off cabbit.
This morning I discovered $895 of fraudulent charges agains my primary checking account.
I've spent almost two hours at the bank filling out the first stage paperwork for investigating this.
My checking account, the one I use for damned near everything, is now locked.
My debit card attached to that account has been locked, and the card itself has been destroyed.
Somehow these @ssholes got hold not only of my card number, but my pin number, bank routing info, and when my disability check is deposited.
The @ssholes in question are eSpotting Media, a subsidiary of MIVA. Why is that important? Because they're one of the advertising partners of the European branches of Amazon and eBay. If you've bought ANYTHING from either, I'd advise going over your bank statements with a magnifying glass.
I'm truly fscked at the moment. I can't pay my rent or utility bills because the account with the money for them is the one that's locked down. I've got a letter from the bank on letterhead to give to the leasing office here at the apartments; they should be willing to work with me. BG&E and AT&T are another matter entirely.
I'm alternating between malevolent rage and shattered sobbing at the moment. I've done all I can until Monday, when I can sit down with the security folk at Provident bank and get things rolling. If you see me online don't be surprised if I'm marked as Away; my mood's more than a little black at the moment.
