Trying desperately to update through a haze of mental fog, pain, and the DSL from FUCKING HELL.

Terribly sorry if that offends anyone (not!), but it needed to be said. Any sort of IM client is out of the question today; checking email requires about twenty tries to get through and a hell of a lot of patience. I've napped on and off through the day, trying to burn off the haze, and done laundry to get caught up for this weekend's trip.

And played a heck of a lot of Galactic Civilizations, with Tubular Bells: Opening Theme from the soundtrack of The Exorcist. As odd as it may sound, it's appropriate for utterly dominating the galaxy as a kind-hearted trading empire... at the end revealing yourself to be utterly, malevolently evil and ruthless.

Yes, crushing the Drengin Empire under an iron fist even more bloodthirsty and fell than theirs is... ah, screw it. It totally ROCKS. :p And as I close in on their capital world with not one, but SEVEN TerrorStars (think Death Stars, but bigger and meaner), I'm seriously enjoying the increasingly desperate diplomatic messages I'm getting from the AI. Gloating? Me? Perhaps... but the Drengin Empire has, for the last 23 years of game time, made sport of hunting my (defenseless) freighters and constructors. They've been the thorn in my side since the second turn (month) of the game... and I saved the most treacherous enemy for last, if only to properly educate them on what betrayal is.

You see, the TerrorStars are also fully operational StarBases, with economic and repair facilities... being moved into Drengin territory in the wake of their (successful but at a HUGE cost) war on the Arcean Empire (now, sadly, extinct). They'll make an excellent supply system when I move my newly minted fleet of dreadnoughts in. The Arcean's were friends, almost allies, and the Drengin forces made their jump after my forces were shattered (successfully, but see the above note on cost) removing the Carrinoids. I couldn't help them; my own fleet was in shreds. But I'm going to avenge them in ....

What's that? Detached from reality? Escapist fantasy? You betcha. I hurt like hell, and I need -something- to keep my mind off it. *shrugs* I figured it was more interesting than explaining how I fold each type of garment. :p

*hugs*
Ciao.

It does fit really well, I agree^^ I'd never thought of the classic Tubular Bells tune in that respect before...
