Love and Hate
The good:
Since Taryn's declared her intent to post the piccie I was talking about, and I /do/ have a place to put it, I'll cover it. It's -such- a pretty piccie... it really is....

The girls are, from left to right, Taryn, Lixie [being held by Taryn], Rowan, Kurara, and me.
The artist is Sue-chan... I worship her skills (and most anyone else that can draw... my talents do -not- lie there, much to my own dismay).
For some reason, I look at this and worry for poor Kurara's soul. :p
The bad:
*shakes her head*
In a fit of uncontrollable optimism, I fired off a letter to Aerus/Electrolux about the repeated failures of the vacuum. I was hoping for some kind of patch or fix for it, no matter how obscure or half ass it sounded, to make the thing borderline functional. What I got back reeks to the heavens of form letter.
My letter:
What I got back was this:
Translation:
Assholes. I swear next time I'll buy a Hoover.
The ugly:
Dear God, does the pile of laundry never -end-? :p
*hugs and dashes off for more cleaning*

Subject: 2500 Series Electrolux Vacuum I'm -really- hoping you folks can help me out. I'm the -not- so proud owner of a 2500 series upright vacuum... which has been, to be honest, trouble from the day we unpacked it. It was given to my wife and I as a wedding present by some very persnickety relatives, so returning it in the begining was (sadly) never an option. The problem? It clogs. Constantly. It's been to an authorized service dealer twice in the last five years, with nothing to show but a hefty bill for it. When brought home each time, it clogged back up within 20 minutes of use. Disassembling the head and fishing the clog out of the pipe has become an everyday chore for me, and it's not doing 'brand name recognition' any good in my mind. Not at all. It's frustrating, tiresome, and annoying. What I'm hoping is that there's some sort of -fix- for the problem, something that the repair dealers didn't feel 'necessary' (of course it's not necessary to them... they're making a bundle off me every time I break down and haul the thing in). Which is why I'm taking the time to write this email. Please, if there's anything that can be done to fix this, pass it along to me? Please? Thank you, [signed, me]
What I got back was this:
Subject: RE: 2500 Series Electrolux Vacuum Dear [me]: Thank you for your recent email to Aerus/Electrolux Customer Service regarding your Epic 2500 vacuum cleaner. We are sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction with that unit and for the problem you are experiencing with it. The Epic 2500 is a very good model and unfortunately we are not aware of a problem with it that would cause it to continuously clog. We can only suggest that you be cautious not to pick up large particles such as paper. Your local Aerus/Electrolux Sales and Service Center will be happy to examine the unit to make sure that there is not a problem with it that is causing it to clog. There is no charge to you to check the unit. We have a branch locator on our web-site to assist you in locating them I am sorry that we are unable to give you a more favorable response to your inquiry. If I may be of further assistance please feel free to contact me at 1-800-243-9078. Sincerely, Jennifer Woods Customer Service Representative

Gee, lady, we don't have a freakin clue what could be wrong with your vacuum. Nobody -ever- has a problem with them. Are you being a moron and trying to suck up large pieces of Argentina? Please hurry right back to our website, pick a service location, and then take it for the free estimate that will invevitably become another $80+ repair bill that still won't fix it. Oh, and have a nice day. Tee hee.

As for the Ugly, aka, the Laundry.... no, it doesn't end. ::whimper:: in fact, I have huge piles of it at home. It's very, very ugly.

As for the rest... each of us seems to be 'a young girl at heart' in stronger ways than is conventional. All of us are dreamers, most of us write in one form or another (and each of us maintain that our own work sucks, met with strident opposition from the others), and Kurara is (contrary to her own opinions) a talented artist. There are... ties amongst us that transcend the normal barriers of age and geography. I know the age range of the participants goes from late teens to mid-late thirties, but all of us keep coming back to -this- mindset.
My own participation in this was a brief 'wish' description given to Taryn (who footed the bill for the commission). [The description provided was 5'-ish, long black hair, elfin features... so sue me, I'm a dreamer. The docs will find a way to make me a foot shorter someday...] Taryn apparently provided details on my fashion tastes (and nailed it amazingly well, I might add).
The artist is... someone quite special. I'm very looking forward to meeting her this weekend at Otakon. I've adored her work since Rowan first pointed me at it two or more years ago, and monitor several small listservs she posts to.
Um... did I miss anything?

I know I'll be in your neck of the woods Oct 18ish for MDRF for my bday. I know I'll be in your neck of the woods New Year'sish...
We'll figure it out, though. ::smile::

I do fit a lot of the rest. I'm the odd one out in the clockwork fascination, but I'm moderately interested. Just not to the same level of importance. :)
If I didn't spend ten minutes gawking, open-mouthed, when Taryn first showed me the picture, I'd point out for accuracy's sake that kitty's key would be attached to a red collar around his neck. But, as gawking had ensued, I'm too much in awe to be picky. :) (Oh, and for the record, it's Elix... 'Lixie' is what Taryn calls me. But close enough. I respond to both.)
By the way, hi. I see you in Rowan's journal often. :)

Yes, I much agree with the gawking; I was so stunned to see what's essentially my inner image drawn by another, right down to my tastes in footwear. I'm still not sure how much of that was Taryn's input, and how much was acute assessment by Sue-chan.
