Eeep!
[RANT]
Well, the morning entry didn't go as planned... half a page typed in and *>poof<* no power.
And I'm the silly nit that forgot that the power company had sent a letter warning of this. :p
So it's in the afternoon, now, and I'm ... here.
Since I had so very conveniently forgotten the planned outage... well... lets just say that some of the wee beasties here in the pit didn't fare so well. The Mandrake box came up after a single reboot, reset its drive architecture, and is now up. Linux is a wonderfully stable platform; I don't give a wooly rat's behind what the Micro$oft groupies say.
Why, you ask? Why the burning hatred of all things Gates-ish? Well, it has something to do with disaster recovery, and a bit more with flexible drive systems. Mainly it's because *nix is a superior operating system to anything that's come from BillyBoy's labs. The only x86 based operating system that even comes close is OS/2 Warp, version 4 (Merlin)... and IBM decided to tell all the loyal home users of that delightfully engineered piece to fuq off. If you're not an established business with more than 250 employees, then Big Blue not only won't sell to you, they won't support what's already out there. Aren't they so very nice. Now everyone give IBM the finger as we go by, because they've proved themselves to be as cruel and bombastic as M$. Okay, now we'll proceed with the tour...
It's been almost two hours since the power came back on, and I -finally- have the Win95 machine back up. Seven reboots, four driver reinstalls, two lost games (StarCraft and Alpha Centauri! *weeps*), and a good solid kick later, it's running. UFB. Just -unbelievable-.
Yes, I know that I precipitated this mess by forgetting to shut things down... but if this had -not- been a planned outage, things still would have been hosed. What's the point of using an OS that can't survive a single power failure?
[/RANT]
There, now that I've gotten that off my chest.... :)
The package I'd been waiting for from Chicago finally arrived! Woo! A PICTURE! *bouncebouncebouncebounce*
AND!!!! Final Fantasy Tactics!!! :) Rowan, bless you for both... thank you for the wonderful gift. *purr*
And now I think it's time for the wierdo beyond the keyboard to pass out.
*thud*
