I have been graced with a copy of the first of the two parts of the Miyuki-chan anime that CLAMP did, Miyuki-chan in Wonderland. It's been on my list of wanted pieces for a -long- time, and was greeted with glee. *chuckle* And while I'm far from disappointed, I really did expect more. It very much has the feel of a warmup exercise; I played a horn for long enough to recognize someone noodling around to get the feel for the material. The animation itself is everything I've come to expect, and done very much tongue in cheek. Of particular note is the whip-wielding Dominatrix Queen (how do those spikes stay -on-, anyway?!)... and the Mad Hatter/March Hare/Doormouse trio, whose part is sadly very short.

My beef is the music, to be honest. What's there is decent enough, with electronically produced sax riffs, but it gets -damned- repititious. I really had hoped for a more thorough treatment; my fault for not properly researching the piece, it seems. I guess I'm just a bit spoiled after seeing some of CLAMP's later pieces (Chobits, and Angelic Layer), and forgot that I was traveling back in time for this one. And for some odd reason the Queen's laugh reminds me of the sidekick chick in the Slayers movie... might be the same VA, but I've not checked yet.

Ah well. It's still a nice piece for my collection. Now I just need to locate 'Miyuki-chan in the Looking Glass'... though I'd much rather just -purchase- the DVD with both pieces on it.

Hey hon; give me a list of what you are after and I'll keep an eye out of things for them.

BTW: I Loved chobits and angelic layer - had the privilege of reading the chobits manga version and it was tres cool! Then watched it as well. CLAMP does a lot of good work and I can tolerate most of the mis-translations they do simply because they make it up in the quality of the detail they provide on japanese specific eccentricities.

So far for Angelic Layer I have only found the japanese only DVDs from Japan; which I am tempted to buy but then I can only really enjoy them myself and not with friends which is kinda half the fun....
