After waiting all day for FedEx to show up with the damned parts, I limped the Explorer over to my brother-in-law's place to have the brakes rebuilt. It's deteriorated to the point that she loses fluid every time I have to hit the binders; from a mechanical standpoint she's well past the point of 'broken' and into the realm of seriously unsafe. It was understood that once she was parked and put up on stands that she'd sit there until things were right and that was that.
Brake pads, check.
Calipers, check.
Rotors, che... wait.
Much profanity followed and I've a knuckle busted open from an ill-advised punch. Why, you ask? Well, it's simple.
There are two very different front axle assemblies that were used on the 2000 model year Explorers. And the rotors? They fit the OTHER one.
*pounds head on desk*
Tomorrow. Tomorrow I have to sort this out. For the moment, I'm putting my grumpy ass in bed. G'nite.
