And the dust begins to settle...
Those that follow my journal regularly, or actually -know- me outside of the ethereal grounds of the 'net, are generally swift to understand exactly what has happened when a post goes in like yesterday's: Pushed to the breaking point both physically and emotionally, I've 'slipped the chains on the Old Wolf' (thank you, Stephie) and 'walked with the lightning' (thank you, Joshua). Both phrases translate quite simply into all hell breaking loose.
After seven consecutive days of minimal sleep, constant physical abuse from moving and packing, and frustration with Megan's 'sit and watch' philosophy of living, I snapped. It's something that according to C and Fuzzy has been -LONG- overdue, and neither of them passed by the opportunities to remind me last week. Sunday's conflagration was bad enough that I ended up entertaining six of Anne Arundel county's boys in blue. When they'd dug out the details behind what all the screaming was about, there was the distinct look of pity in their eyes. I was, of course, requested to not engage in any further breaking of the community sound ordnances, though they did comment that usually it's a stereo, not a person...
I was a wreck afterwards. Desperate for sleep, I reached for the amitriptyline that's been given me as a sleep aid... and took three instead of the prescribed one. It's not a stunt I'll repeat any time soon, but I DID manage to bag ten hours of sleep. The dark circles around my eyes are faint enough today that the could be written off as a trick of the light. And as several discovered earlier, I'm actually more coherent today than I've been in a while. And twenty four hours after Mount Elisabeth blew, Megan's now packed three totes, hauled out two bags of trash, and has made a very definite dent in her room. Her desk, long a sore spot, is on her list of things to do tomorrow; she's reminded me of that four different times today, likely so that I don't explode again.
And a large part of me is both raging and sorrowful that it took something so drastic to get her moving.
On to happier matters, now. Today is the official opening day of the 'Heaven. Hell. Horses.' MUSH, an ORC-licensed In Nomine MUSH set in Louisville, Kentucky. It's a wonderful roleplaying world from the good folk at Steve Jackson Games, one first introduced to me via
Which reminds me; my IN library came to me mostly from

Yes, all but one of the volumes I have came from him. That one... *guilty smile* stranded at a laundromat and bored out of my mind, I remembered that there was a small gaming store a couple buildings down. I wobbled down intending to get a soda and look over their racks, and discovered that the place had doubled in size since the last time I'd been in.... and that they had IN books. Given the care packages from the bear.... they had -one- volume he hadn't sent me. And like a lemming caught in the milling throng, I bought it. I confessed to the purchase to my financier as well; she seemed amused by it (fortunately!). And it's been useful, really. It got me thinking about IN again, and each trip since to the laundromat has been used as opportunity to begin reading through the collection. Marvelous stuff, really. The above list was started mainly as an inventory for myself, so I didn't accidently duplicate something should I again be consumed by lemmingness. :p The two missing core books, and the pair of missing Superiors supplements, are on my list of things to acquire once we're totally settled in the apartment and I'm not losing my mind on a daily basis.
Edited to correct cut and paste errors in the book listing. My bad.
And there's also a MUD that's on my list to properly explore... one that's actually got a real /plot/ beyond simple monster bashing. I graduated from MUDs to MUCKs and MUSHes years ago, the storyteller in me hungering for some meat... finding a MUD that's caught up to me is a novel experience, and it looks like fun. I'm simply too scattered to do it now, but it's also on the 'the move is done' hotlist. For those interested, the game in question is Chalacyn Nights.
And now... now, I'm going to quit babbling and turn what's left of my focus to dinner and a bit of RO. Yes. Pretty graphiccy mindlessness. Though there's plot -there-, too, if you look. :)
