AC, our second round first choice complex as detailed here (friends locked post) got back to us today; a 24 hour turn around instead of GreenTree's four day process.

We've got a move-in date of September 15th. I may actually sleep tonight without a nightmare jolting me awake.

I don't have final numbers yet, so I don't have an exact figure on start up costs. Given the one month of hurry up and wait, I'm going to need to hit WalMart for another round of totes and use the living room as a staging area. I'd really wanted to move the big furniture first, but it won't kill us to need to do a truckload of packed stuff first.

I've got a date, now. I've got a target. I'm going to get out of here.

Now pardon me while I put some clothes on and go have a cigarette.

So glad you got a new apartment! I was reading about the selection process you went through and it made me think back to when we moved to Raleigh...We should have done a more thorough drive/walk through like you guys did.
Hope everything goes well with moving!! I'll be sending good thoughts your way.

I have the advantage of having lived in some.... very interesting neighborhoods. As a result...
  • I've done repair work on more than a few hydraulic-powered jumping low riders
  • I've had to call the police anonymously from a phone booth to report an operating crack house in the apartment next door to where I was
  • I've sat on a porch drinking Colt45, watching a team of irate teens completely strip and then set fire to a car adorned with the battle banner of the Army of Northern Virginia (what most folks insist is the Confederate flag... idiots...)
  • I've seen my neighbors from the next trailer over on the evening news, wearing a house dress and sponge curlers, describing what the 'ternader' looked like.

I've got a pretty good idea what I'm looking for at this point in the game. :p
