Idiocy abounds...

And unfortunately, it's all from -me- this time. Megan and I packed up and left for her folks' place in New Jersey saturday morning, after we'd both showered and I'd had a chance to clean the piggy cages. We were 150 miles out (out of a possible 183) when I realized I'd done something outrageously stupid: I'd walked off without putting a fresh Fentanyl patch on my arm.

I don't know if any of my very patient readers have ever had to deal with either a narcotics addiction or (in my case) a heavy narcotic prescription. Withdrawal for me hits within 24 hours, and steadily climbs up into the stratosphere... along with my pain levels. By yesterday morning, I was upping the dosages on the rest of the meds to try and keep the shakes and fever bursts at bay. By last night, the muscle spasms had started, and not even the Desyrel I take at night could knock me out. Somewhere around 11pm last night, Megan heavily spiked a drink she was getting for me with Johnny Walker Black. Already into fever, chills, and diarrhea, I had no idea until she confessed this morning.... but I -did- managed to get six hours of sleep that would've otherwise been denied.

This morning was more of the same; not a good thing when I'm supposed to be driving (Megan's got a wounded paw at the moment, so this was no surprise... just not pleasant). Stoked on Mountain Dew, Altoids, Red Bull (which gives nausea, not wings, dammit), and Starburst, we rocketed back down here. I'm... frayed. It'll take about two hours for the patch to really start to work, and it's not going to be a pleasant ride. I will be... scattered at best. For the moment... I think I'm going to lay down.

There usually -is-, you sword-toting loonie. :p There's normally an 'emergency' patch tucked into the back panel of the suitcase, for just this kind of personal stupidity. But over Christmas, I had to pull it out of the suitcase; the pharmacy's were all closed and it was the only one I had left. When I got to the pharmacy on the 26th, I forgot to replace it. Considering we left on the 27th, there was only an 8 hour window during which my brain apparently was left in the 'autopilot' position. :/

Sword-Toting Loonie?

Hey!
I resemble that remark!

Glad you're feeling better. Go get Extra patches ;-).
