All the gory details...

Kweepie's got a spinal infection. Apparently it's something guinea pigs are very vulnerable to, though it's the first time I've encountered it. By the time I managed to get the poor fuzzy to the vet on Friday, he'd lost most of the use of his back legs and was unable to potty normally. The vet handled him (much rougher and more casually than I do, but he's one of the east coast's best 'exotic' vets), and then cleaned him out and gave him a couple shots of antibiotics. The entire time, Kweepie only protested once. For the next several days, he gets a quarter tablet of Baytril dissolved in orange juice shot down his throat with an oversized syringe... and he doesn't fight me at all. There's been a noticeable improvement in him, thankfully. He's moving around again, albeit slowly, and his appetite is back to normal. I was terrified I was going to lose him...

Thanksgiving with the in-laws went better than I had any right to expect, and at times was actually genuinely pleasant. And the turkey dinner was positively delightful. :) I spent a good bit of time curled up out on the porch with the In Nomine books [livejournal.com profile] jhyanmar sent me, managing to wade through the rest of the core book, the Angelic Players Guide, and Superiors 3. The Ethereal Players Guide managed to stump me, though; I wasn't able to wrap my brain around it. It's on the agenda for another attempt tonight, so maybe it'll sink in. :p I really like the system; I want to nail it all down so I can introduce it to the gaming group I'm part of. Further books in the set are at the convenience of He Who Hooked Me, though... I'm already looking at a serious shortfall for the bills after having to field the bill from the veterinarian. *sigh* Someday, maybe it won't be a struggle. Things would've been fine without it... I simply had no way of predicting the need for it. :/

My pain levels are finally starting to drop back into the point that is (nowadays) normal for me; in the chaos of getting us back home and getting the piggies taken care of, I managed to snarf up the schedule of my pain meds. I might've mentioned that earlier. Sorry if it's repeated, but I'm a bit scrambled right now. Dinner's finishing thawing, and then I'll fire up the stove to get the chicken cooking and get the rice going. With today's grocery run, we've got about 12 days worth of healthy meals laid in.

That's about all that's really on my mind at the moment. But there's a really nifty clothing site that I discovered, courtesy of a post by [livejournal.com profile] raelbny: Miss by elaine. Lots of very pretty things there. :) Thank you, Rael, for that tidbit; it brightened an otherwise bleary morning. :)

And that's it for me.
*hugs*
